To become a telecommunication engineer, you would most likely need a bachelor’s degree in engineering to get your foot in the door. There are many engineering programs out there and some colleges only offer electrical engineering where others have a focus on communications or telecommunications. Either would benefit you to become a telecommunication engineer.

It covers the design, installation and maintenance of networks and equipment, allowing for the interconnectivity of devices and people. It's one of the world's most rapidly developing industries and this course has been designed to meet the growing demand for skilled graduates.
A telecom engineer typically is given complete responsibility of constructing a telecommunication system or device. This entails that the engineer drafts the plan, design and also configure the hardware and software requirements to achieve the desired telecommunication system/device.

The basic qualification that the job requires is an Engineering Degree in Electronic or Telecommunications. But like any other profession a degree alone cannot guarantee success. Companies prefer employees who have the basic knowledge of telecom operations with a dollop of an attitude to learn and adapt.
