Monitoring your network traffic

Monitoring your network traffic is critical to ensuring that your network is secure and your data is protected.

.

Active Network Monitoring is performed by inserting test traffic into a network and observing the route it takes to a target destination over time. This type of testing is commonly referred to as “synthetic network monitoring” because it simulates real-world conditions. In addition to standard IP connectivity tests like pings and traceroutes, active network monitoring involves additional steps to simulate real-world conditions.

For example, you might inject packets into the network and observe how they are handled by intermediate devices like firewalls, routers, and Network load balancers. You could monitor latency across different network paths or observe packet loss rates along those paths. All this information can provide insight into what is happening within the network.
